I recently saw the new Star Trek film and I have to tell you, it was just okay. It wasn't great as some reviewers will have you believe but I did find it entertaining. I am NOT a trekkie with Spock ears and collectables and all that. I've never been to a Trek convention and have no desire to do so. I do like the Star Trek shows including the television shows and movies and have watched them all. I had high expectations after reading the glowing reviews but I was a bit disappointed. It seems to me that they tried to please the general public by making the special effects the most important aspect if the film at the expense of plot, acting and history of the Star Trek franchise. Perhaps I'm being a bit too hard on the movie but as a loyal trek fan, I feel a little let down. Oh well, I'll get over it.
