The Season for ChangeThanksgiving is fast approaching and things are changing here at All Things Trivial. No, we aren't stopping our outpouring of trivial conversations, we just moved our website to a new location. Allthingstrivial.com had been hosted on a free web hosting solution for the past 8 months or so. After the hosting company experienced a number of problems causing our site to be inaccessible for long periods of time, we decided to move to a more dependable solution. Enter TotalChoiceHosting.com, a company offering a very attractive hosting plan (cheap) and the promise of more reliable service. The transfer to our new home was quick and easy and our site was back in business in a flash. In addition, John and I will soon be preparing a new podcast so stay tuned! Happy Thankgiving!
So Far, So Good... Sort of...Well, it's been a week using Windows 7 and pretty much everything is working. I have found a couple of programs that do not run, some due to graphics library issues, some to just incompatibility problems but for the most part everything is peachy. Was it worth converting? Maybe. Although the graphics are pretty and the interface is easy to use it seems that Microsoft changed things simply because they could, not because it needed changing. I suppose that the competition with Mac induced Microsoft into thinking that we users wanted more "flash" and with Windows 7, we got it. I've actually turned a lot of it off as I'm not particularly interested in that sort of thing but some folks may get a kick out of it. I'm keeping a close eye on the performance part of the update and it's been somewhat better than I expected. That may be wishful thinking, however. I'll know more as I get deeper under the covers. Stay tuned!
