Family Update Revisited
For those of you following this blog (and those that don't) I thought I'd answer the question you surely must be asking, How is the dog getting along with the new kitty? In a word, just fine (ok, 2 words). As you can see by this picture, Frankie (cat) and Baxter (dog) are great buds, at least most of the time. They play together quite a bit, tearing around the house in hot pursuit of each other. After a long day of playing, the kitten curls up next to his big brother and off to snooze-ville they go. It's a thing of beauty!

Family UpdateAs I explained in my previous post, we now have a new member of our family, a kitty we named Zoey. Well, it turns out that Zoey is in fact a male kitty named Frankie. Yep, she's a he so my wife gave her... er, him a new name more befitting a male cat (although I'm still partial to
Lokai ). Frankie is doing fine and growing like a weed. He's doubled in size in the last month and shows no sign of slowing down. The vet gave him a clean bill of health and estimated his age at about 12 weeks which is about what I thought. My dog, Baxter and him get along quite well and make quite a pair.
A New Family Member! We welcomed a new family member to our household this weekend. Her name is Zoey, a little kitten that was abandoned along with her mother and 4 sisters and brothers. How anyone could do that to these sweet little creatures is beyond me but their misguided actions are my gain. She's a little spitfire, climbing and running around like only a kitten could do. Although my wife and I named her Zoey, I wanted to call her Lokai. An odd name, you say? Just watch
THIS and see for yourself.
Huggable! My wife and I went out to the movies this weekend and watched a true gift. It had no special effects, no explosions, no violence of any sort. In fact it's quite the opposite. Nope, not Iron Man 2 (obviously). I'm talking about Babies, the documentary about 4 babies from 4 different parts of the world. If you're a parent you will love this movie. Period. As one critic said "This movie is huggable" and you know what? It is. Check it out! Here's the official
trailer.
Happy Birthday!Today is the 20th anniversary of the launching of the
Hubble Space Telescope! This device has wowed the world with it's stunning photos for 20 years now hopefully it can keep it up for years to come. It's rare for a scientific instrument to capture the public's attention like the Hubble and it's well deserved. It has literally opened the worlds eyes to the beauty of the universe. Happy Birthday!
Welcome, Winter!
Winter has arrived with a roar here in upstate New York and I for one could live without it. It's not that I don't like the winter, it's just that I am not fond of the cold, the heating bills, the slick roads and the shoveling that this season brings. That said, my pooch Baxter, cannot get enough of it! HE LOVES IT! He insists that I get outside with him and throw the Frisbee.

I must admit that it does make me laugh to see him plow through the deep snow in hot pursuit of his toy. He'll carry on like this until he drops so I have to make sure he doesn't overdue it. I'd get frostbite before he'd come in as anyone that owns a Border Collie confirm. Oh well, a happy dog makes a happy home, right?
Let Em Know!Christmas is over and now it's time for to warm up the ol vocal chords for that New Years classic,
Auld Lang Syne. We've all sung it at one point or another and it's beginning,
"Should Old Acquaintance be forgot, and never thought upon" is really depressing. Well, phooey on that! Take a little time to drop an old friend a note and let them know you're thinking of them. Email, letter or card, long or short, it really doesn't matter because it's truly the thought that counts. Believe me, they will appreciate it.
